Despite numerous requests, Barq and I only ever did two songs about real people. 'Crikette' and this one, 'Rinquist'. Rinquist was a semi-late arrival to Xev server, but *very* rapidly made a name for himself on many levels. A sociable, funny, friendly guy who played a very skilled Warrior and seemed to know everyone on the server in very short order. He and I were guilded together for a brief, but very enjoyable time in Omerta and we grouped, raided and generally stayed in touch after that for the entire time that he and I were on the server.
i had originally written "Personal Rinquist" to the tune of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus", but I got stalled halfway through the song and it just didn't seem to be working out. It was pretty silly (as is the Rinquist we know and love), but it just wasn't working thematically. I don't remember why Barq and I settled on "Sometimes" by Erasure, why we decided to give that a shot.
It definitely worked out well though, and we managed to squeeze all of Rinquist's trademarks in there - The big pink Helm of Raldukan that he wore through his 50s before we got him some Champion from Kael, his amazing ability pull 300 mobs instead of 1 (sometimes I used to think Rink had the ability to pull 10 mobs from a single-mob spawn point), but best of all, his incredible stick figure drawing talent.
