Wonderful Wipe
(To the tune of Wonderful Life, by Black)

Here you are, now you're dead again
Staring at your bind
Hope you didn't mind
We had some adds, it was very bad
Someone trained us there
There's critters everywhere

Look at me feigning
Here on my own again
The mob is corpse camping

No time to run, just die
It's a wonderful, wonderful wipe
You tried to gate or hide
But it's a wonderful wonderful wipe

The tanks are all dead, and the clerics too
We're all dying
Bodies everywhere
And I need consent, oh I need consent
To drag your corpses
And not lie here on my own

Look at me feigning
Here on my own again
The mob is corpse camping

No time to run, just die
It's a wonderful, wonderful wipe
You tried to gate or hide
But it's a wonderful wonderful wipe

I need consent, oh I need consent
To drag your corpses
To the safe spot in zone

Look at me here
Feigned on my own again
The mob is corpse camping

It may not be common knowledge, but Barq used to front an 80s covers band. That's basically how he and I met, in fact. Eventually, I ended up joining the band on lead guitar and sometime backing vocals. Did my first gig for them propped up because of a broken knee, but that's a completely different story...

Anyway, the reason so many of these Tavern songs are 80s songs is.. Well, cuz that's what Barq and I knew how to play. We already knew the music, the tunes, the guitar licks and the harmonies for them. Black's 'Wonderful Life' was no different. Spectrum (for that was the name of the band) didn't play many ballads - When people go to see an 80s band play, they want 80s party music, not ballads, but we did play 'Wonderful Life' and The Cars' 'Drive', amongst others. Now, I've told you all of this purely because I couldn't think (or remember, anyway) why we chose to do 'Wonderful Life' as 'Wonderful Wife'.

Sometimes parodies just happen.

I think that may just be one of the most flattering typos I have ever read!  Thank you honey!  Smiley

Hello all,

Longtime listener, first time poster and ex EQ player (twice). Always lovely to hear these again, but this is my favourite of your wonderfully evocative and now nostalgic songs and it appears to stop halfway through? Is the only remaining copy broken? /sigh

Aah, thanks for letting us know - No, it's not the only copy. I'm uploading a (hopefully) unbroken one as I type this.

Hi Tarsk,

Thanks for re-trying the link, I downloaded it and it was about the right time (about 5.6MB), however, it doesn't appear to be supported by Windows Media Player (which all the others were)- it says WMP might not support the codec used to compress the file.... am I missing something?

Sorry to be such a pain!

Thanks, got it now... at last. Still a wonderful tribute to my early days of EQ and dying in Hate/ Fear.

The old days were the best, or perhaps the later ones...

Thanks very much!

Interestingly enough, I wrote the lyrics right after a particularly bad Veeshan raid, rather than a plane raid. Still, them dragons were nasties.
